We have observed that the Canon 1Dx can develop more hot pixels (red, white, and blue dots) over time – this is particularly problematic for long exposures.
When purchasing a Canon 1Dx, make sure that hot pixel removal has been performed, otherwise the defective pixels will be visible.
Our Solution
Using a special process, we permanently deactivate the sensor's disruptive hot pixels. Disturbing pixels are mapped out by directly entering them into the camera's registers.

Attach the camera cap and close the mirror box. Set ISO to 1600 and exposure time to 5 seconds. Check the black image: Do you see many bright pixels (2-3 are normal)?.
