We have observed that the Canon 650D can develop more hot pixels (red, white, and blue dots) over time – this is particularly problematic for long exposures and astrophotography.
This problem is particularly noticeable with astro-modified cameras. If you're buying a Canon 650D for astrophotography, you should definitely make sure this problem has been fixed, otherwise you'll end up with unwanted spots in every image.
When purchasing a Canon 650D, make sure that hot pixel removal has been performed, otherwise the defective pixels will be visible.
Our Solution
Using a special process, we permanently deactivate the sensor's disruptive hot pixels. Disturbing pixels are mapped out by directly entering them into the camera's registers.

Attach the camera cap and close the mirror box. Set ISO to 1600 and exposure time to 5 seconds. Check the black image: Do you see many bright pixels (2-3 are normal)?.
